Featured Boat of the Month
When Brian Goldman sent in his membership
registration, the membership coordinator called to ask if Carver
actually made boats in 1965. They did, indeed, make boats in
1965. For an interesting look at the Carver Heritage, click here
to visit our featured boat for
January.
Refinancing Your Boat
The lowest interest rates in more than a generation
make buying and re-financing a boat more attractive than ever. One
member told us that he saved more than $200 a month by refinancing his
$100,000 note. He also eliminated a balloon note at the end of 7
years on a 20 year loan. He did have to pay a $300 refinancing
fee, a small price to pay for $2400 in annual savings.
Let me know if you have re-financed or are considering
re-financing your boat. Or, do the lower interest rates spark your
interest in a boat upgrade?
Insurance
AnswerLady received an interesting note about
recommendations for an insurance carrier. It seems that a member
purchased insurance and then had a hassle filing a claim and having his
agent return his calls.
What are your experiences with insurance agents and
companies? In an earlier newsletter, we received some excellent
information about what type of insurance to buy (market value
replacement, with a fixed deductible). The earlier article also
mentioned BOAT/US and State Farm by name as good providers. One of
our boats is insured by State Farm, but I don't think the agent even
knows what a boat is. We've never seen an agent with other
insurance companies.

Family Album Photo Updates
Please send me your updated boat and owners photos
for the Family Album. While space limits us to one photo for each
boat and owner group, you can change the photo from time to time.
(Not weekly, please).
Boats For Sale Listings
Contact me when you need to update the information on
the boats for sale listings. I don't have an easy way for members
to update their own listings, just notify me of any changes.
Especially, please let me know when the boat sells. Thanks.
