Let me introduce some of our advertisers on the Club website and give a bit of background. Some of the advertisers offer special deals to members. Snap In Carpet is our newest advertiser. This Michigan based company makes custom replacement carpets as well as decorative area carpets to protect your investment. Snap In Carpet is offering a 15% discount to members items purchased at our Accessories Store page. Enter the code, COC09 in the coupon box during the checkout process. Admiral Marine Canvas in Dundalk, MD is one of our oldest advertisers. Admiral Marine Canvas won the 2009 Award for Best Enclosure on a 27 foot and larger Boat presented by the Chesapeake Marine Canvas Fabricators Association, Inc. This is a prestigious award presented by one's peers in the marine canvas industry. Ed does nice work for reasonable prices. Theo's Pizza in New Orleans is a bit different for the Club. This award winning pizza restaurant has its roots in Arkansas, but its heart is all New Orleans. Stop by and tell them you heard about them from the Carver Owners Club website. Hampton Public Piers is a nice place to get away to. Reasonable prices, great entertainment, and easy access make the Hampton Public Piers a fun stop over. If you're cruising the Chesapeake Bay, Hampton is before you get into all the craziness on the Elizabeth River. There is a nearby shopping/restaurant district that has one of my favorite bars - the Taphouse, home of 1,000 beers. Okay, it doesn't really have 1,000 different beers, but they have a wide selection of beers on tap and pretty good food. Also, Enterprise Car Rental is at the marina and you can rent a car for $10 per hour - plenty of time to get to a grocery or super center. Hazzard Marine in Georgetown, SC offers dockage, excellent service, including haul-outs, good fuel prices, and at slip pump outs. Stop by and see Susan (Queen of the Marina), Reed (the service manager), Sam (the yard manager), and Jasper. Jasper worked on my boat several times and always does a nice job. Georgetown itself is a nice place to visit and walk around. One of our favorite restaurants is there, as is a unique furniture store, Augustus and Carolina.

It's club policy to not allow members to post email addresses, website links, or telephone numbers. The exception we've made for this is on the boats for sale pages. I received a note from a member with a boat listing who asked that we remove his telephone number because of the calls he was receiving from brokers. This is not an uncommon problem. You may want to use a free email address when posting your boat for sale, because spammers and other malicious people can target your email address on the web. That's why we had to remove all of the club email addresses from the website. Further, depending on the service that hosts your email address, your email identity can be stolen (called spoofing). Please help the club protect your identity by not posting your email address on the website.

Robert's article this month deals with his addiction to both boat shows and boat improvement projects. He is very nearly the Ty Pennington of boat people. After you read his article you'll see that he has a true head for boating projects and saving paper - money. Read his article, Boat Show Junkie by clicking here.

Events The Club has several events scheduled or in the planning stages. Here's what we have so far: Saturday Night Out, February 28, hosted by Scott Gundaker, Peppercorn's, Oxford, PA. This is an excellent BYOB restaurant. Contact scottgundaker@hotmail.com to make reservations before February 21. Saturday Night Out, April 18, 2009, Harbour House Restaurant, Chestertown, MD 21690. This is one of the favorite events of the year. Chef Bob promises a wonderful menu, even though the restaurant doesn't officially open until May. Tea promises to be with us. This is always a great time. Chesapeake Bay Rendezvous, June 5, 6, and 7, Annapolis. The boutique rendezvous provide a much more intimate experience and the ability to explore new places without overwhelming them. Annapolis is about the same distance from the northern bay as Baltimore and somewhat closer to points south. We are working out the details now.
